"The Universal App Loader" lets you send almost any mobile Java app or game on the web to your phone. Paste or the type the URL of a mobile Java game or app JAD or JAR file in the text box above, press the "Send To Phone" button and follow the instructions on the following pages.
The Universal App Loader is most useful for users of Boost Motorola iDEN phones (Motorolas with model numbers starting with the letter "i" like the i265, i475, i776 and i9) as those phones can't download and install apps using the browser. Users of other phones, including Boost CDMA phones (Incognito, Innuendo, Seek, Juno etc) should generally NOT use the Universal App Loader as it's easier to download apps directly using the phone browser.

I do not know where on the desktop page i click to copy, and do i click select the text, select link, current screen, or page content. I told you I have Add so things need to be explained more in depth.
Start on the desktop Umnet desktop page at http://umnet.com, click "games" or "apps".
Find a game or app you are interested in and click its title to bring up the page for that app or game.
On the game or app page scroll down to where it says "Download ID" and write down the 6 digit number that is the download ID
Then go to the mobile site at http://m.umnet.com/
Click "Download by ID".
Enter the download ID in the text box and press the "Go" button.
On the next page highlight the download link. In the UCWEB menu select "Tools" then "Copy", then "Select Link".
Go to the Universal App Loader on BoostApps
Click the text box, then click the phone's Menu key and choose "Paste". UC WEB will display it's clipboard, highlight the topmost item and press the left softkey (labeled "OK") twice.
Click the "Upload File" button on BoostApps . If you get a blank page here (bug) it means the Loader couldn't find a jad or jar file at the URL you entered.
On the next screen, which displays in desktop mode (another bug), scroll down and press the "Send to Phone" button.
On the next screen enter your phone number and again click the "Send to Phone" button.
The rest is the same as downloading any other app from BoostApps.
Dennis could you be more specific about downloading apps n games from umnet? Is getjar the only site we use openwave?

You have to use the openwave User-Agent with GetJar. With most other sites, including Umnet, it doesn't matter.

The JAD is called Safari, App is named Safari. Even claim's to be From Safari Mobile.
Yet, on startup, it said
'iStore Starting', then app closed and de-installed itself.
Probably best to stay away from it.
I'm having extreme trouble with the newest UCWeb. Can you recommend another web browser? I can't connect for some reason.
The UCWEB 6.7 here on BoostApps should work on iDEN phones. It's really only good for the Universal App Loader. For a general purpose browser I prefer Opera Mini 4.2.

Find what game/app on http://m.getjar.com. Click on the Download Button. It brings you to a next page. Hit page properties. Highlight the page URL and Copy it. Then use the FULL boostapps site. Paste. Success!
Wow! That works. This should make a lot of people happy. I've fleshed out the steps a little to try and help everyone understand how to do it.
1. Be sure UCWEB's user agent is set to Openwave. Left soft Key > Set > System Settings > User Agent > Openwave . If it's not you will get the desktop GetJar site which doesn't work.
2 On the GetJar home page, choose Motorola and find a game you like. Press the download button.
3. Press Left Softkey > Tooks > Page Properties. Scroll down to the Page URL to highlight it.
4 Press Left Softkey > Tools > Copy > Select Link
5. Switch to the Loader on the Boost Apps site. The mobile and full ones both worked for me.
6. Click in the Loader's "Enter JAR or JAD URL" textbox. Press the Menu key and choose Paste. Press OK.
7 Press the Upload File button and follow the prompts to download or send the app to your phone.
IQ_talking_clock at Mobilerated.com is good app,but after 3 times,you have to pay 3 bucks.

i have an i856w i sent the games and or apps to my phone following all the steps posted from my mobile. however when processing to install it , it has an error message that says"fail download with statys code :904 {attribute mismatch} please retry". when retrying it over it dispaly the same error message. Iam wondering if you can fix that..

You will not get that error with ALL games and apps. If you can tell me the jump code or the app name and site name that you are downloading when you can the error I'll look in to it and see if I can fix it.
You may also get that error if you do not start the installation of the game on your phone within an hour after sending it with the loader
Short of deleting Download Apps from your phone,and getting a new copy from Motorola site using a data cable,you cant remove entries from Re-Download list.
Dennis kudos on the uploader. I am having a problem with umnet.com. How do I download the games apps etc...?
The download links on the desktop site umnet.com do not work in the Loader currently.
For Umnet you have to use the mobile site http://m.umnet.com/ It works in desktop or mobile browsers,
Just copy the download ID off the desktop page and then go to the mobile site and click "Download by ID.
Paste the download ID in, and press the "Go" button.
On the next page highlight the download link, right click and copy the download address and paste it into the loader.
Dennis, I have two old phones,i580 and 760. Both get "verification failed" when installing Ucweb 6.7 while loading classes. Is there an alternative way to use Uni App Loader? thanks
Here is a warning for everyone using the uploader. There are many wap sites you can get games and apps from. But be very cautious. Even at user submitted sites. All my games and apps in my re-downloads are corrupted and I have to find a way to remove them. Hey Dennis any recommendations?
Re-downloads using the option in Download Apps on the phone do not work for anything sent with the Loader. I'm investigating the issue but I think it's a loader bug rather than the sites you are downloading from doing anything devious.

The jad and jar links at http://mobile.booksinmyphone.com work with the loader. I used it to send the "Max Compatibility (MIDP 1.0) download" version of Balzac's "Eugenie Grandet" to my i776 and it installer and ran well.
The JAR links on ManyBook's mobile site: http://mnybks.net also work in the loader but I got an error Verifying Classes when I tried to install "Linda Lee, Inc."

the easiest site i have used so far is mobilerated with 100% success. i used the UCWEB dennis posted when to the mobilerated mobile site and choose my phones model i465. heres the pg i used on UCWEB:

I'm sorry that you are having trouble with the loader. It does work, if you could tell me specifically what you don't understand or what is going wrong when you try I should be able to help you.
As for posting apps, I don't know. I'm looking to making this site more more user driven but providing tools to enable you to load any game or app they want instead of having to rely on me to find stuff for them and post it. That wasn't scalable, the backlog was getting longer and longer and many users want stuff I refuse to host on this site like porn, gambling apps and warez. Plus it was taking an incredible amount of my time and after doing for 10 months I'm tried of it.
I'm mainly a web developer and building web apps is what I enjoy and do best. I want to turn the finding and testing of apps over to users. I'm thinking of adding a forum and encouraging users to post links to apps that work with the app loader on Boost phones. Eventually I'd like to give users the ability to post apps on the site, subject to the usual content guidelines and approval.

I didn't have any luck so far. There are several reports on the Tristit forum complaining that it doesn't work on the Incognito. It doesn't work on the Boost iDEN phones either.
I recommend Opera Mini 5.1 for the Incognito

Mobango's kind of screwed up. You can only change your phone on the desktop site and the desktop site is only usable with a desktop browser. If you don't have a PC maybe you can use a friends or a PC at your library, school or computer store. You only have to set the phone once
ok so been using gamejump without problem then instead of "send to phone page" when i select "upload" i get a white page with following txt: "ARCHIVE 1936.ZIP CREATED SUCCESSFULLY" ?help?
You should get another page after that with the JAD and JAR links. That's what happens when I use it. No one elsre has reported that problem so It's probably a temporary glitch.
If you retry and you still get the while page, the 1936 in"ARCHIVE 1936.ZIP CREATED SUCCESSFULLY" is the Jump code. Go to http://boostapps.com/jump and enter that number.
Jump codes expire after an hour so 1936 won't work anymore but if you retry you should get a new number
The Jump Code isn't for iDEN phones like the i465, use the "Send To Phone" button.
If the i465 isn't listed, choose the Motorola i576 or V190.

A few time's now, Loader has sent multiple copy's of an app at once. I thought it was random glitch, but it's happened at least 6 or 7 time's.
I haven't been pushin the button multiple time's; maybe my phone's insane?

It sounds like you are clicking the JAD link on a PC. That won't work. You need to:
# Note the Jump Code displayed on the Universal App Loader's download page.
# Launch your phone's browser and go to boostapps.com/jump.
# Enter the Jump Code in the text box and press the "Jump" button.
# On the next screen click the JAD link.

Ok i did exactly what you said. It says Data error 906. Invalid descriptor Tristit browser
Thanks, I'll see if I can do anything to fix that, although with that error there's a good chance that app is incompatible with the Incognito.

Hi, my motorola i9 is in Peru. Can I use The Universal App Loader ?
You're welcome to try it but I don't think it will work. The loader uses a Sprint API to provision the app to you phone. I doubt Sprint would push an app to a network it doesn't operate like Nextel Peru.

With i465, hold the Function - Fn - key for 3 second's to activate the numeric keypad. I don't own one, but that info is all over the site and seem's to have worked in at least one case: Rhynn.
The Get Jar website on my PC is weird. In Opera, It defaults to the mobile site and I can't tell it which phone I am using to make sure everything is compatible. In Firefox nothing works and in Google Chrome it runs out of memory and makes Google chrome crash. Gamejump is cool. but the 4 games/apps I downloaded from that website loaded fine. Even the sound worked. But either the controls were awkward or I couldn't get them to work properly. I tried a Yahtzee classic game. Got sound (music) at the main menu but no buttons worked after that. Tried a Google Map/Erath GPS App. Certain parts worked but I couldn't get it to work with my GPS Receiver in my I465 clutch, and I got a few games. The closest to work was this beer theme game that worked but the buttons were all weird.
I know what you mean. Finding good games for these phones involves a lot of trial and error.

It works the same on the i856 as any other iDEN phone. The instructions are in the post, they could be better but my first priority is to get the bugs out and add support for mobile browsers and non-iDEN phones. I'll flesh out the instructions eventually.
