I got a request for a brick breaker game that uses the arrow keys instead of 4 and 6 to move the paddle so it would play better than  DagazEhwaz on the i465. So here's Arkad, a faithful clone of the 8o's arcade game, Arkanoid II - Revenge of DOH with nice graphics and responsive game play. Like all brick breaker games the object is destroy all the blocks by hitting them with the ball without losing any balls off the bottom of the screen. In the final level you fly the Arkanoid spaceship in battle to defeat the evil DOH.

Gomoku or Five In A Row (Caro in Vietnamese) is a board game that is popular throughout Asia.  The rules are simple but the strategy is not. Players take turns placing chips on the board. The first player to get five chips in a row; horizontally, vertically or diagonally wins. JCaro is Gomoku adapted for mobile phones. It's only 6 kb in size but the computer opponent is very hard to beat,  There's a choice of game board sizes. The game loads quickly and runs well even on basic phones.

I've had a couple of requests for a Darts game. "Jacado Darts" and "Paul Hageman Darts Championship" both looked good but neither actually worked. I finally found this one,  "Dart" by Nemo that does.

You and your computer opponent take turns throwing. Press the Call key to throw a dart.

Designed for 176 px wide screens this game works best on the i856.  It's playable on the 128 px screen on an i776 but part of the dart board and all of the score board are cut off.

A simple but surprisingly addictive arcade style multi-level maze game. Move through all the maxes collecting the numbered green and white cards while avoiding the scowling monsters. No key mapping or performance issues. The game is designed for 128 px wide screens like the i776, i465 and i290 and doesn't fill the screen on the i9 and i856.

Several of you requested star map apps and "piggy" found MicroSky for you. It's a planetarium in your pocket which can display the night sky for your location or anywhere in the world. The star maps are stored on the MicroSky server but download quickly, much faster than Google Map, for example.  Before you can use MicroSky you do need to register for an account at www.upto.org/skyserver/editRegistration.do?action=Create&callfr om=microsky but registration free and instant.

Nimbuzz released version 1.6 of their multi-protocol IM client for Java phones a couple of days ago.

Supported networks are the same as in version 1.5, Windows Live Messenger,  Skype, Yahoo, Facebook,  Google Talk, AIM, MySpace, ICQ, Twitter, studiVZ, shuelerVZ, Gadu-Gadu and Hyves.

It seems to start up a little faster than 1.5 and do a better job of staying connected to Facebook. Other than that I don't see much difference. Off line Facebook friends are still listed in the buddy list as numbers instead of by name and  the OK button and the soft keys are still mapped incorrectly.

Because of the messed up key mappings you need to:

1. Use the green "Call" key as the "OK" key
2. Use the right soft key for the left soft key's action
3. Use the menu key for the  right soft key's action
4. Exception : When entering text in native pop up windows,  the soft keys (labeled OK and Cancel) work as labeled.

Nice looking basketball shooting game with rather simplistic game play The goal is to sink as many baskets as possible in four 60 second quarters. Shots from outside the circle score 3 points, inside 2 points.

This game is best on phones with 176 px or wider screens like the i856.  It's playable on smaller screens but you lose the messages from your "coach" and part of the court, menus and help screens.  The scoreboard is cut off on smaller screens too but it doesn't work anyway.  You can tell if you made a shot if the net moves. All baskets are counted and are shown correctly at the end of the game.  High scores can be posted online.

5 - select in menus, shoot in game. Press and hold the 5 key until the power meter reaches the black bar and then release.

This is the latest Opera Mini 5 Beta 2. A word of warning. It doesn't work on my i776.  It downloads and installs but when I try to run it it hangs when the progress bar is almost at 100%. So close, yet so far.

A couple of months ago I tried installing an  earlier build of Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 on the i9 and i856 in a Sprint store.  Those two phones have a much faster processor and twice as much Java memory than the other Boost models.  On both the i856 and i9 Opera Mini 5 beta 2 installed but was more or less unusable, images didn't load on most pages and opening a second tab cleared the first tab, which kind of defeats the whole point of tabbed browsing. Another problem was that the main menu was truncated and the settings, find in page and help menu items were missing.

I normally don't post anything I can't verify as working but  decided to put this one up because many of you have left comments saying that it works well on the i9 and  i856, including g3ovani123 who made a video of it running on his i856 and posted it on YouTube.  One person even left a comment saying that it works well on his i465!  I'm hoping that by putting this out to the BoostApps community we can get a better idea of which phones it works on and what sort of issues it has on the various iDEN models.

If you download this please leave a comment as to whether it works or not and what phone you are using. And it fails to install or you encounter bugs please also file a bug report at mini.bugs.opera.com. When filing a report it will ask you for the build number and version.  The values you should enter are 17443 and "5 Beta 2".  Filing bug reports is the best way of getting problems with Beta software fixed.  You can also report issues on the Opera Mini User Forum, but bug reports are supposed to be more effective.
