Help
If the error occurs during the "Allocating Flash" or "Writing Flash" install phase, it means you don't have enough free space on the phone. Delete one or more other apps or games and restart the install on the phone. To delete an app, select it in the menu, press the "Menu" key and choose "Deinstall".
Q. I have a QWERTY phone and the number keys don't work in games. Can this be fixed?
A. On iDEN phones do a long press on the Fn key to switch the keyboard to phone number pad mode. On CDMA phones press Fn twice to switch to number pad mode. Then you can use the the number keys in games that use numbers as controls. You have to do this on QWERTY phone any game that uses the number keys. To switch back to QWERTY do another long press (iDEN) or double press (CDMA) on the Fn key.
Q. I have a QWERTY phone and I can't type letters or symbols in the ID and password fields of some apps. What's the solution?
A. Some apps don't "see" the QWERTY keys and only recognize the number keys. Do a long press on the Fn key (iDEN) or press Fn twice (CDMA) to switch the keyboard to phone number pad mode and then you can triple tap the number keys to enter letters and symbols as if you were using a non-QWERTY phone. For example to type a "C", press "2" three times.
Q. The game or app I want isn't on BoostApps. How can I get it?
A. If you can find the game or app on another site like Getjar or Mobilerated you can send it to your phone with the Universal App Loader. Instructions here. And if you do find a good game or a useful app that works well on your iDEN phone and is free to distribute (non-commercial, freeware or ad-supported), do your fellow BoostApps users a favor and post a link to it in the comments section of the Universal App Loader page or on the forum.
Q. How can I get free ringtones and wallpapers for my Boost phone?
A. Most iDEN phones can not download ringtones or wallpapers from this or any other site.
But If your phone has bluetooth, you may be can send properly formatted ringtones and wallpapers to it from a PC or other phone using Bluetooth. Instructions here: How To: Use Any MP3 File As A Free Ringtone and How To: Install Wallpaper Using Bluetooth. This also works with some Boost CDMA phones including the Motorola Rambler.
A BoostApps reader says that on a Motorola i9, he was able to get ringtones by going to http://mytinyphone.com with Opera Mini, picking a tone, clicking the option send it to the phone, choosing Boost as the carrier and the "send as a attachment" option which will send a text with the ringtone attached. When you get it, open it and press the "Options" key or the Menu button and choose "Save audio". To set it as a ringtone, open the main Menu, select "Multimedia", go to the song you want, press "Options" or "Menu" and select "Assign as ringer. I suspect this may also work with the i856 and maybe other phones with a memory card.
Q. Can I watch YouTube or other web videos on my Boost phone.
Some of the CDMA phones including the Sanyo Incognito and the Motorola Rambler will play videos from m.youtube.com and other mobile video sites. Video streaming is impossible on any iDEN phone, the network is too slow.
Q. Can I listen to Internet radio stations on my Boost phone?
A. Virtual Radio works well on most of the Boost CDMA phones including the Rambler, Theory, Incognito, Seek, Innuedo, Rumor Reflex. It doesn't work on the Juno or any of the iDEN phones. Internet radio might be possible on the iDEN phones but I haven't found an app for it that works reliably on them. I've tested all the Internet radio apps I could find, more than a dozen, and iRadio is the only one that even partially worked. It sort of works on the i9, i856 and possibly other phones, but the audio skips and it keeps prompting for an unlock code that no one seems to have.
Q. My Boost phone doesn't have a music player, can I install one?
