Possible Fix For Opera Mini 5.1 Crashes on i856 and i9
Since I posted Opera Mini 5.1 a couple of days ago several readers have commented that it generally works OK on their i856s and i9s but frequently crashes causing the phone to reboot. Opera Mini 3.1 and 4.2 had the same problem and the fix was to add the line:
iDEN-MIDlet-miniJIT: off
To the app’s JAD file. I’ve done the same for Opera Mini. I don’t know if this will help or not as I don’t have an i856 or an i9. So if you have one of these phones try installing this version and letting us all know if it helps or not by leaving a comment.
If you already have Opera Mini 5.1 on your phone, Download Apps will not automatically prompt you to install the new version after downloading it. You need to go to Java Apps, highlight Opera Mini 5.1, press the menu key and choose “Update”. Say yes to the prompt “Keep existing application data” so that you don’t lose your bookmarks.
If your are trying to run Opera Mini 5.1 on an i465 or any other iDEN handset except the i856 and i9 , it probably won’t work. If you want to try it anyway this version of Opera Mini will probably run even more slowly than the generic 5.1 available here.

CORRECTION! 5.1 runs at a very comfortable speed on my i856 but i did notice an occasional crash. its the 5.1 with the possible crash fix update that runs painfully slow. my i856 doesnt like that version installed as an update or on its own. tried both.

if opera is free y did i get charged still? i am on the pay as you go plan. a reply would be good
I’m on Boost iDEN pay as you go and I’ve never been charged for using Opera. What makes you think that’s what the charge was for? What does it say in the Account Activity section at http://BoostMobile.com ?
its really not for me its for my friend. he believes that opera charged him. i told him opera is free but he blames me because i put it on his phone for him. i told him how i can find out with the boost account activitey but i cnt bcuz he dnt kno his pin #
what can you download. and can i856 support themes.
i would have 2 agree its extremely sluggish on my i856
