English Spanish

This is an English/Spanish/Dictionary from DictionaryForMIDs ,which is an open source project that has made a number of free dictionaries available for Java phones.  The base Spanish dictionary is from the Internet Dictionary Project (IDP). It’s about 400 KB in size and contains over 7000 words.  The program is pretty quick, taking about four seconds to translate a word on my i776.

Tip: If the translated text  is hard to read (on my phone it used blue letters on a black background), press the Menu key, choose Settings and uncheck “Colored display

If you are interested in another language, take a look at the DictionaryForMIDs’ download page and let me know which one you are interested in and I’ll post it on BoostApps. Some of the dictionaries are huge, especially for  the Asian languages. The Chinese dictionary, for example, is 9.9 MB. It’s probably not possible to install a program bigger than about 1 MB on any of the iDEN phones.

  1. Works on samsung rugby 4 SM-B780A.

  2. I have an Incognito and this app does not work. I tried downloading twice and I got an error message. I think it said something like a dimensional mismatch.

  3. Is there anymore free or low priced apps that teach or translate spanish that will download on my i465

    • There are some on GetJar.com. I don’t know which if any will work on an i465. Try installing them with the Universal App Loader.

  4. did not work on my sayo juno 🙁

    • Thanks for your reports on what works/doesn’t work on the Juno.

  5. did it take u guys phones forever to download it??

  6. I downloaded this ap, and after trying to use it, I found that it was not working unless I am doing something wrong. I put in simple words that I already knew the translation for like Dog, Cup ETC. and it translated it to the same word(NO TRANSLATION).. Can someone please tell me how this ap works, I could get great use of it, if I could figure it out..

    Thanks

    • It works for me. Tells me that dog = perro in Spanish and cup = taza. Maybe you’re in Spanish to English mode. Press Menu > Settings and verify that “From language” = English and “To language” = Spanish

  7. thank u thank u.

  8. AH! I see… That sux! Thanks Dennis! =)

  9. Alica, the English – English dictionaries are huge. The smaller one is 6 MB, way too large to load on any Boost phone.

  14. looks like the iDen downloader is down

  15. thanks for posting this ive been wanting a english to spanish dictionary. 🙂

  16. At 8.9 MB for the full version and 1.9 MB for the concise one. the English/Japanese dictionaries are too big to load on Motorola iDen phones.

You *might* be able to load the smaller one if you deleted all the other apps on the phone.

I don’t really want to wipe my phone to see if it will work. If you want to try it yourself the files are here. You can send them to your phone by following these instructions: How To: Load (Almost) Any Game or App On Boost and Nextel
