iRadio
Here’s something people have been requesting forever here on BoostApps, a streaming Internet Radio app that actually works on Boost iDEN and Nextel phones. I’ve tried over a dozen radio apps and never managed to find one that worked on my i776.
The wait is over thanks to BoostApps reader Lise, who found iRadio on GetJar and got it working on her i856. Lise was kind enough to share her find with us.
iRadio has a directory over offer 500 stations which you can browse or search for a particular type of music like hip hop or classical.
According to Lise, on the i856 it takes several minutes to load the list of stations and a couple more to begin playing the selected station, but it does actually work and the sound is good.
I never managed to get iRadio to play anything on my i776. The program did install and run. But it took nine minutes to load the station list. After I picked a station I waited another 40 minutes but it never started playing. The i856 and i9 have a much faster processor and twice as much memory as the other iDEN phones. I suspect that iRadio will only work on the i9 and i856

yea that sounds nice but how does it work? does it work through bluetooth through a pan network so i can connect it to my pc and listen for free from my home internet? or does it use the i856 internet connection that costs money if you are on the pay-as-you-go plan?
The i856 doesn’t support Bluetooth PAN. iRadio uses the cellular data connection. BTW, the $0.35/day wireless web add-on is not required to use iRadio or other data aware apps on Boost Pay As You Go. Packet data, which is what apps use, is enabled by default and is free on Boost.
You can listen to it over bluetooth if your phone supports Bluetooth 2.0 HSP
Hopefully it works.
I have the i465 it loads the stations when I select a catagory I cant hear no music are there any other radio apps for this phone that will work?
None that I know of.
I think I may try it on my i465
Every time someone says a program is slow or does not work well, I seem to have no problem with it. I have been avoiding downloading “Life in Pocket” because of posts complaining about it being too large and therefore it runs slow, but I am having absolutely NO problem with that program so I am going to give the radio program a shot eventually.
i have it on my i465 but it says i need an activation code…..
u got it to work on your i465?
Dear Pink,
The iRadio program was developed by “Dr Hu”. If you go to the website (http://drhu.org) at the bottom of the page is this information:
“Since lots of people need J2ME activation code, I create a temporary page for you to get the activation code. Please provide your email address below and click submit.” then you fill in your email in a box and send. I believe THIS is the activation code you are needing.
