iRadio
Here’s something people have been requesting forever here on BoostApps, a streaming Internet Radio app that actually works on Boost iDEN and Nextel phones. I’ve tried over a dozen radio apps and never managed to find one that worked on my i776.
The wait is over thanks to BoostApps reader Lise, who found iRadio on GetJar and got it working on her i856. Lise was kind enough to share her find with us.
iRadio has a directory over offer 500 stations which you can browse or search for a particular type of music like hip hop or classical.
According to Lise, on the i856 it takes several minutes to load the list of stations and a couple more to begin playing the selected station, but it does actually work and the sound is good.
I never managed to get iRadio to play anything on my i776. The program did install and run. But it took nine minutes to load the station list. After I picked a station I waited another 40 minutes but it never started playing. The i856 and i9 have a much faster processor and twice as much memory as the other iDEN phones. I suspect that iRadio will only work on the i9 and i856

works great on my i877!
Will this app work on cdma phones such as boost mobile samsung ran?..if so how can i download it on my phone?
No one has reported whether it works on the Rant or not. Why don’t you try it and let us know.
To download apps on the CDMA phones follow the instructions on the Help page.
It should being the Rant supports J2ME. However I wouldn’t know how to load it except if there is software out there that allows you to load it. Also Download Apps is a iDEN only program. You also may be lucky to google iRadio Mobile or iRadio J2ME in your mobile browser on your phone…. It can’t hurt
Need to found out what the i1 will or won’t do.
What do you mean by that? Will it run J2ME or not? I know Android 1.5 (Cupcake) doesn’t have a Midlet program with it. However Google does have available a program that can convert any j2me applications (binary code) directly into android packages so that j2me MIDlet can appear in the main window of home screen and can be managed/installed/uploaded separately. However it is a work in progress and I can not guarantee how well it works. I will get back to you about this, I have to break out a i1 from my stock and play with it.
There’s so many stations i’m trying to listen to some hip-hop or RnB.Which ones are working for you im in Orlando FL cant get nothing out the speakers.
You might have the Java speaker turned off. Go to Phone Menu > Profiles > View > Edit > Volume > Java Spkr and set it to the max.
As for which stations work, I don’t know because I have an i776 and none of them work. Maybe someone with an i9 or i856 who uses this app can suggest a working station. It’s Internet radio not broadcast so where you are located doesn’t matter.
Hey do you need a set of earphones to hear this??I have the i856 and im clicking the stations but dont hear anything.
No it should play through the speaker. Only works on the i9 and i856 though.
Let me add it also work on the i680, i865 and the i890. Also give it time to buffer. iDEN isn’t known for it’s fast data speed and it may take up to 10 minutes to buffer depending on phone and signal strength
