Mobile Planetarium
A planetarium for your phone. Displays the sky with stars, star names, constellations and Messier objects for any time any time anywhere in the world. Star maps are generated locally on the phone so no data access is required.
This app is quite slow on my i776 taking seconds and even minutes to respond to key presses. It should be much snappier on the i856 and i9 which have faster processors.
You have to manually input your latitude and longitude in order to see the correct star map for your location:
Keys:
Arrows – Move Map
1 – Zoom Out; 3 – Zoom In
* – Decrease Stars; # – Increase Stars
2 – Toggle Constellation Names ; 4 – Toggle Planets
5 – Toggle Constellation Figures; 6 – Toggle Messier Objects
7 – Toggle Info; 8 – Toggle Grid Lines
9 – Switch Language; 0 -Toggle Star Names

I know a little about astronomy , I set for very bright magnitudes (like -3) and hid the constellations . That may help for better phones than the i465 . I kinda miss my Stargazer2go by digital chocolate that was on my i415 .
Maybe it appears slow because you guys dont recalize you can do stuff to the map(like toggle constellations or move the map)while its still configuring the planets.
I decided to try it out on my i465 . Setup was fairly easy , but after 8 minutes I got bored waiting for the map to load . I should have bought a better phone .
A lull in xmas ( eve) I’ve been very absent with your site between the holidays and retrieval of my phone ( nightmare) into motorola…anywho, I came back to this and can’t wait to try it.
Strange that the app was super slow on an i776.On my older i580 it was very fast.
I’m not surprised. The i580 was a high end phone when it came out. I believe that like the similar i850 and i855 is has a separate accelerated graphics chip which the i776, i465, i290 lack.
