Nimbuzz 1.92
Multi-network (AIM, Facebook, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, MySpace, Twitter, Yahoo) IM app Nimbuzz was updated last week. The version number was bumped up 1.92 (from 1.9). Despite the insignificant jump in version numbers that are some major new features in this release:
- Invisible mode – to appear invisible to your Nimbuzz contacts while you are actually online.
- New Notifiable icon – for contacts that have the app closed but are available via push notification or Ping.
- Mandatory phone number verification for chat-rooms
- Faster login
- Less data consumption We expect that on average you will consume 50% less data, and depending on how you use Nimbuzz, this could get save you an amazing 70% in data used.
Unfortunately for Boost Mobile users the new release has issues with many Boost phones. On my i776, it fails to install with a Class Verification Error. On the Motorola Rambler, Nimbuzz installs but is unusable do to key mapping issues. The left softkey action is mapped to the right softkey. I can adapt to that but the right softkey is mapped to nothing which is not good as it’s used as the Cancel key and to return from menus and chats.
The good news is that based on testing by cornel.j 1.92 does work on the Motorola i856. Which means it probably also works on the i9 and maybe other models. If you try it and find it works on any other Boost phones besides the i856, please leave a comment so I can update the compatible phones list. If you try 1.92 and it doesn’t work you can always go back to 1.9.

i tried it on my incognito. i was able to download & run the app but i was unable to create an account becuz there’s a captcha at the end of the screen. for sum reason no matter what i type it shows as zeros.
so, i’m still lookin for sum app that will allow me 2 use twitter. i can access their mobile site but it never lets me sign in. i have that prob with quite a few “mobile” sites 🙁
For Twitter I use https://shkspr.mobi/dabr/ in Opera Mini 4.3. It works well with no login issues.
Well I tried this on the Seek. Downloaded installed fine couldnt get passed language selection. No keys associated with anything. 🙁 So nothing worked
I can’t get this to work on the i465, it will install, but you can’t type anything to log in,
Do a long press on the Fn to put the keyboard in keypad mode and then triple tap using 0-9 keys.
i776 does in fact work with this version of nimbuzz i downloaded it and logged in successfully with no errors or interruptions 😀 the thing that does not work is the register option at the beginning. I tried the 1.9 version and that one didn’t work also, When it came to registration. So with that being said the best way to register is by going to nimbuzz.com and register there, then when that’s done go to your cell phone and simply login with the credentials with which you registered with.
I465 Clutch user here. Still undecided about the new Clutch. Not worth the upgrade. My next phone if I get one from Boost would be the new Samsung Android one. I know it will be faster because I will be on 3G. The Phone’s HW = Duh. Question is, am I willing to give up the push-to-talk and also am I willing to go to the unlimited monthly fee if affordable vs. just pay by the minute. Anyway, unless something better comes along phone wise, and I am still with no contract Boost despite the Iden Nextel network going away. But I digress.
I did this all from my phone. Went here, sent the upgrade to my phone. No issues. It took a minute more to upgrade, but it was 100%. Buttons to me work the same as 1.9 and I can confirm it says 1.92a in the about area.
My only issues is the software disconnects. Now when I have low or loose signal completely, I understand. But sometimes it disconnects when I thought to have a decent signal. I get the message that says trying to reconnect and at that point I click on dismiss. But I have no way of knowing that I am or not connected at that point. App works as normal. So i could be hitting up a contact, and I would have no clue if they are getting what I am typing in.
I did not see the new features. Maybe I didn’t look good.
I could never get Twitter or Facebook to work well on it.
That is my two cents. LOL. So if you want to add I465 Clutch to the working phone list and whatever the version number of it’s current predecessor I565, I475m whatever numbers the new clutch is, as the internals and software from what I understand are completely Identical based on my experience with the latest Nimbuzz? I would say, go ahead.
I just wish my banks mobile website wf.com worked with the Opera 4.x latest build I have installed. Opera 5.x runs to slow for my phone. Oh well.
Thanks Rasalon.
I’ve added the i465 to the supported iDEN phones. I’ll wait on adding the other two models until someone reports they are working.
