UC Web 8.0

The UC  Browser 8.0 Beta was released this week. It’s a pretty big update, especially in look and feel. Here’s how UC describes the new version:”

Beautiful looks – Beauty is not the patent of iPhone or Android phones, Java phone could also make it. The classical black gives you a cool tech style.

More efficient – In UC 8.0 Beta for Java.We optimized the interface layout and menus, you can find the useful features easily.

Magical action function – When you operate on Windows via PC, it’s convenient to choose what you want in the right mouse botton menu. The right mouse button in different places, then the popup menus are different. In the same philosophy, UC Browser knows what you want when you stop at a place and gives the most convenient options to choose. Otherwise, U can press shortcut ‘1’ to start this funtion more conveniently. When you move to different elements, the actions re different.

Not only beautiful, but also intelligent – Do you still think excellent user experience is just belong to high-end phones? Ucweb said no. We think A good Browser is what can provide good browsing to all users.”

The new interface is a shameless copy of Opera Mini 5.0 and later but other than that I like the new version. All the sites I tried; including  Twitter, Dabr, Facebook and Gmail loaded without error, looked good and worked well.

  1. Aftar instaled it cant work. It is damed.

    • Not helpful to others unless you say what phone UC Browser doesn’t work on.

  2. this is great

  3. Very prompt response v v appriciable.

  4. i like uc browser 8.0 Beta

  5. sir plz upload more full touch screen games and also apps…this softwere doesn’t installed.

  6. Why not 5 minutes after i sent my last message did my firmware update itself? Now its just fine, seeing how im using my default web from my Incognito to send this! Shocked and amazed once again!

    • Glad you got your phone to work again. Sorry a download from here caused you so much trouble. I don’t really know what happened. Other BoostApps readers use UC Browser on their Incognitos without problems and I never had any trouble with it on any of my phones.

  7. I have an Incognito and for some reason after i downloaded the UC Browser, a lot of my other java apps and built in apps quit working! I cant even get on here to download anymore apps now bcuz when i try it says it cannot launch the app! I called Boost and all they did was make me update the firmware, which had no effect! Any suggestions?

    • It sounds like the phone’s Java subsystem got corrupted. Here are some things you can try to fix it.

      1. Reset the phone’s settings to restore all the factory defaults, including ringtone types and display settings. Contacts, History, Calendar, and Messages are not affected:
      a. On the home screen highlight the Home icon and press OK > Settings/Tools > Settings > Reset/Delete.
      b. Enter your lock code (default lock code is the last 4 digits of your phone number) and press CONTINUE (left softkey).
      c. Highlight Reset Settings and press Continue (left softkey).

      2. If there’s a Sprint store (Sprint company own store, not just an authorized dealer) many of these have a technician who may be able to resolve the issue. Sprint stores are not obligated to help Boost customers but many will if you ask (poliely :)).

      3. Reset Phone to reset all settings and erase all data on your phone. This will delete all your Contacts, History, Calendar, Ringtones and apps you have downloaded, pictures stored in main memory and messages. You can copy pictures and contacts to the memory card to preserve them but I don’t know of any way to back up the other items.
      a. Back up contacts to memory card: On the home screen highlight the Home icon and press OK > Settings/Tools > Tools > Memory Storage > Save Contacts. (You will see a confirmation. Press YES (left softkey) to proceed. (Please wait while the
system creates your data.) DO NOT remove the microSD card while files are being accessed or transferred. Doing so will result in loss or damage of data.
      b. Copy pictures to memory card: Highlight the home icon and press OK > Pictures > My Photos & Videos > In Phone. Press the left softkey or OPTIONS (right softkey) and choose Copy/Move to Card
      c. After the copying completes remove the memory card to preserve any contacts, music and pictures you have saved there.
      d. On the home screen highlight the Home icon and press OK > Settings/Tools > Settings > Reset/Delete.
      e. Enter your lock code and press CONTINUE (left softkey).
      f. Highlight Reset Phone and press Continue (left softkey)
      g. When the reset completes, replace the memory card and restore your contacts. Highlight the home icon and press OK > Tools >
Memory Storage > File Manager > Memory Card. Highlight your contacts backup, press OPTIONS (right softkey) and choose Import.

    • Yea i just saw this and tried what u said…i hope sprint will be nice because other than whats stored on my memory card (saved my contacts, etc…) its now gone and i still cant use my java apps and now my web is done. I have to submit this on my computer! Starting to think i should have left it the way it was. At least i could have used the browser…not blaming you one bit, i know all this stuff is “at your own risk,” but shocked me also because i rely on the web when im on the go, which is a lot! Thanks for trying tho, i know u did what u could and ur a good guy

  8. Dennis when are you going to post de new (Opera mini next)

    • I just did 🙂

  9. It finally work Dennis, thanks man. 🙂

  10. I get the same error screen with different number when trying to download opera form the built in browser

    • Try turning your phone off and then back on.

Are you downloading from BoostApps by clicking the JAD link? If so it should work.

You can also download Opera Mini from http://m.opera.com

    • Are you using Opera Mini to download the UC Browser? If so try using the built in browser.

  12. You do NOT want to use thst Facebook App! That App reminds me of the old Atari games like Pac Man and Donkey Kong! Hahahaha LOL… It plain SUCKS! Sorry it does and Opera Mini 6.5 isnt much better….

  13. Kevin

I wasnt talking about Communists! LOL… Its a slang lingo we used yrs ago with Commodore 64 users! Alot of people ask me on Facebook whats a…. Nod??? Sometimes I just Nod at someone and they are like…whats that???? Nod means Yes in the old slang IRC chat type wordage…

Well the word Commie is derived from Commodore 64 user… How easy the newer generation of users misinterprets us older folks whove been online for 2 decades or more…sigh

I am happy you served in the US Army…:)

    Have a Good Day

  14. Good NEWS Everyone!

I usually browse this site using UC Browser 8.0 and I use the full site mode here because its more attractive with a black background than the mobile sites white! Plus more data on the screen to see…

By accident I clicked the jad link to download that new Facebook App and it WORKED!!! It kicked into the native browser and I was able to proceed with the download Via UC Browser 8.0!!! I couldnt do that before and used to be able to with Opera Mini 6.5… Now it can not do it…

This update is amazing so now I CAN click a jad file using UC Browser 8.0 and download! This completes my update report for the UC Browser 8.0 run on a Sanyo Incognito…:)

  15. You found the wrong Kevin , and I keep my profile private .
Commie ? I dare say not , I was in The U.S. Army for eight years .

  16. By the way Dennis I am using UC Browser 8.0 exclusively now for browsing and Facebook… It does render the pages like Opera Mini 6.5 but much faster and images go to full screen on this machine… For the first time since coming here a couple of yrs ago when I had my i776… I deleted Opera Mini today from my mobile…

There was another quirk and esp on this site with Opera Mini… Anytime you went to a box like the ones below my post to fill in your name and email… This Browser enters the info in there and when you press enter or ok its fine and clicks away so you have a cursor free to move about…

Now whenever I did that with Opera Mini and clicked ok after entering text it refresh the page because I can see the bar pop up and refresh it… And sometimes after that it messes me up or doesnt save the msg… It does this on Facebook or any site with info you must enter in a box then press ok and the screen refreshes… And sometimes those refreshes can take seconds before refreshing a whole screen… Never understood why it did that to begin with by entering text in a box! Messes up data on the screen sometimes…

UC Browser doesnt do that on any site… You click after entering ok and the cursor pops up without refreshing like Opera does…

  17. Kevin

Why didnt you tell ME you were a COMMIE like ME???? OLD DAYS now your making me feel ANCIENT! 🙂 Hey I am 51yrs old and still kicking…

Welcome aboard Kevin! I was hoping I would run into another COMMIE one day… But the codes work in phones with the 6502 in them… Couldnt believe it but they actually do work!

If you feel up to email I would be happy to share the OLD DAYS with you! LOL My best friend for 28yrs online/offline is on Facebook and is a COMMIE! hehe

  18. Kevin

When you are typing using the UC Browsers Full screen editor do you have to hold the shift key down while pressing a letter to make it capital in your full screen editor???

  19. Poke codes ? Naw , I havn’t messed around with those since my Commodore 64 days . 😀

  20. Kevin I assume your name is I am Stephan… Do you have to hold the shift key down while pressing a letter to make it capital in your full screen editor???

Yes the numbers you have to hold that key down for a second and it places the number on screen…

Another question… If you have the schematics of that Innuendo can you also tell me if it has a 6502 chip in it like mine????

I can direct program mine and already with the 4gig memory card am blowing Droids off in speed since I am manipulating memory within the machine… I didnt know till I looked again in the schematics that this machine has the same but mini version of the chip I used to program yrs ago on the Commodore 64 and Apple PCs… Its giving me an edge online and yea it only hogs memory if you keep your clipboard full with the chache the way it is… But I love tinkering around but I dont wanna start putting codes on here cause thats not good… My neighbor just got an Innuendo and sometime I am going to poke codes into it if it has that chip to give him my edge… As it is I can talk text play music and be on Facebook all at once…LOL But Ive crashed it a couple times so I just limit it! 🙂

  21. @boostapps.comVintage Stephan
Actually I have a Sanyo Innuendo , but the settings you gave me seemed to help since I am using UCWeb 8 to type this . But it seems to be a little clunky when it comes to numbers , and it seems like it is going to be a memory hog if I have to open every link in a new window .
But then again , I cannot expect too much from a beta test product . Thanks for the help . 🙂

  22. Krazy Kev

Now that I got another Incognito User I need you to check something out for me… Once you get back online with UC Browser type a message out to me and tell me in the full screen editor if you have to hold the shift key down to make a capital letter???

Apparently Dennis EVERY Single App on this site or elsewhere that uses text input in the full screen editor one must use the thumb to hold the shift key down while pressing another to get a capital letter!!!! No caps lock either and in that event you must hold that thumb on the shift key while using one hand to type out an entire word(s) in caps just like a PC!!! At least a PC has caps lock…

Now the native browser and its full screen editor is sweet!!! It automatically capitalizes at the beginning of a sentence whether in chat or not as long as your using the native app with the phone and not one from anywhere else including here… The native browser also has caps lock and you can tap that shift key when in need and release it and the next letter pressed is capitalized! 🙂 You do not have to hold it down like these apps that are not from the phone but someplace else…

Ive gotton use to it because I love UC Browser over Opera Mini 6.5 because its not clunky and its FAST on Facebook and I can view images full screen as well… My only problem is uploading pics there thru UC is slow compared to Opera Mini but I now use my native emailer to email the pics up then I use UC Browser to get on FB and enter text to describe the pics…

  23. KrazyKev

I have an Incognito try this….

    Mouse mode

    No Segmentation

    High for image

I have my Full screen engaged but you dont have to.

    Dont click the zoom view

    WAP UA

My Block size is set to 1M

Below Browser menu make sure all boxes are checked!

Under Security the Login record is set to Always Ask that way it will remember your passwords and let you back on those sites.

Do not check the record most visited cause that just ties up more memory…

  24. Well , still no luck . And the only dependable search results was this site . lol

  25. Thanks for the advice Dennis .

  26. Erm , what are the rcommended settings fot the Innuendo or Incognito ?
I tried using this browser , but I cannot even get the links to Google or Bing search results to work .

    • I don’t have either of those phones but on my Rambler the only things I change are:
      Font Size: small
      Page Segmentation: no segmentation
      Image Quality: high
      Zoom View: unchecked
      User Agent: WEB UA
Google search using the browser search box works for me

  27. Thank you Dennis! Just a link…LOL 🙂 I am beating my brains thinking it was internal… LOL

  28. Thank You Dennis on this…

    Another question???

Is there away to configure UC Browser 8.0 to log into the desktop site of Facebook???

There used to be a prompt to allow mobile or desktop at the bottom of the logon screen and now its gone! I would like to go on there in desktop mode with this browser to make some adjustments to my photo albums… Its limited on the mobile side and more menus on the desktop side… I want to privatize some of my albums and it wont let me just limit it to the select few in mobile mode…

The inline editor wont let me choose close friends either… I have to go into their Privacy menu to adjust default settings… Theres really no way to fine tune privacy settings in mobile mode… And that Facebook App is slow as molasses and is nothing compared to this browsers speed and ability to blow up pics to full screen…

Oh speaking of which if the pic is too big it wont load it at all! It only shows well as a thumbnail image…Dont know if its another bug I found in here…anyways…

  29. Dennis

Got a problem with this browser… I am now using this as my main browser esp on Facebook… I also recommend this over my famed Opera Mini because it is about 2-3times faster loading pages esp on Facebook!!! 🙂 Also whenever you click the pictures it blows it up to fullscreen whereas Opera Mini is smaller and gives you the option to d/l it as we have discussed earlier…

It will click into mobile YouTube to watch videos like the Opera and the screen is almost fullscreen unlike Opera Mini which puts it in the upper left hand corner…

The problem is: Getting it to download apps from HERE! It kicks in the internal browser like Opera Mini does but then it freezes!!! Usually when I used to d/l with Opera Mini on here it would kick in the internal browser then show the 2 prompts to proceed and not trusted file thingy and I would proceed and the d/l would commence…

Now it goes to the internal browser with the black screen and then I wait for those prompts which never come… Sigh

    • I see that on my Rambler with UC and with Opera Mini 5 and later. Only Opera Mini 4.4 and earlier hand off properly to the native browser. I just use the built in browser for all app downloads. You are going to end up there anyway. This mobile version of site should work well in the built in browser. If it doesn’t let me know.

  30. all the uc web works on my phone mictomax q5

  31. Bolt also shut the forums down on Bolt Space and does not make any comments on their Facebook page .
It really makes me wonder if Bitstream will be around next year . 🙁

    • Bitstream’s main business is fonts which AFAIK is profitable. They are merging with Monotype, another font company and shedding un-profitable products like Bolt. I think they will survive

  32. A very urgent message to DENNIS- I recieved an message connected to ‘BOLT LITE’- 12/14 will no longer be free! As this the wave of all Boost Apps. Something has to be DONE RIGHT NOW HELP!

  33. Dennis- the new UC Browser 8.0 Doesn’t work on my i465-I get an error sign. and I notified you before- Picomail 2.3 is ready to download!

    • UC browser only works on CDMA phones, it says so in the post. Picomail 2.3 will be posted today.

    • on the i465 uc browser 6.3 is the only version i know works just so u know

    • 6.3 doesn’t work on my i776 but this one does: Updated: UCWEB 6.7 With English Server

    • i correct myself i meant 6.7 not 6.3 sorry

  34. Runs great on my juno.. However, I wouldn’t say it’s much of an impovement over the current opera. I’ll probably stick with the browser I know.
