PicoMail has been updated to version 2.3. Changes in this release are listed as:

Typing shortcuts to speed up text entry. If they are enabled you can type “lu” for “love you”, etc. You can define your own shortcuts too.
Select contacts based on their popularity
Numerous bug fixes

PicoMail is a fast, free (ad-supported) POP, SMTP, IMAP email program for Java phones that works with most email providers. It features simple account configuration. For major email services including Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail you just need to enter your email address and password and PicoMail takes care of all the complicated POP or IMAP settings.

PicoMail provides unlimited email accounts, viewing of Word, Excel, PDF, WordPerfect, video and image attachments, HTML email (reformatted as a single column) , images, including PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP and TIFF formats, security via SSL, keyword search and automatic spam filtering.
