WebWag

WebWag

A mobile widget framework that can run hundreds of different widgets including a weather app, headline feeds from CNN, CNN, Yahoo, Techmeme and many other on-line news sources, a notepad, to-do list and Twitter and Facebbok clients.

WebWag needs a fast processor, large screen and lot’s of memory to run well. I found it frustratingly slow on my i776. Some of the widgets, like the weather one, were to big for the screen. It should be better on the i9 or i856 and StratMatt, who found WebWag and posted it on the BoostApps forum, says it works flawlessly, other than the usual key mapping issues, on his i465.

When you install WebWag it asks you about your interests and adds a number of widgets based on your answers. You can add and remove widgets using the app but if you have a PC, it’s easier and faster to configure WebWag using the desktop web site at webwag.com/startup/

I found that the news feeds like CNN and Engadget worked best on my i776. The Twitter client also worked pretty well and was quite attractive. But it was very slow and unlike dabr.co.uk it can’t display Twitpics and other embedded Twitter content. The Facebook client seems broken and get an error every time I tried to log in.
