Welcome to BoostApps, a free app store that lets users of older mobile phones customize their phones with free Java ME apps and games. Most mobile phones made before 2015 support Java ME apps but the platform is now considered obsolete. New Java ME apps are not being developed. This site is archived and has not been updated since 2015.
All games and applications on BoostApps are freely distributed freeware, shareware or adware and were tested and confirmed working on one or more phones at the time they were published.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about using this site.
Q. If these apps are free why am I getting charged by my operator for downloading and running them?
A. The apps and games themselves are free, you pay nothing for the app or game. However downloading apps uses data and your operator will charge you for the data used downloading. In addition, many apps use data when you run them. Messagers like Hike and WhatsApp use data to send and receive messages, browsers use data to load web pages and ad-supported apps use data to download ads. Click here to only see apps that don’t use data while you are running them.
Q. I’m using Free Basics and downloading apps is using my paid data. I though Free Basics gave me free data.
A. Free Basics is a service that is operated by Facebook, not by BoostApps. It gives users of participating mobile operators free data for browsing websites, including BoostApps, that have been approved by Free Basics. However, Free Basics free data doesn’t work for downloading. You must use paid data to download.
Q. What phones do these games work on?
A. The apps and games on BoostApps are Java ME (also called J2ME) apps. They work on phones that support Java ME including Nokia S40 and S60, Asha and Symbian Belle phones and most Samsung, LG and Sony Ericisson non-smartphones made before 2015 .
Q. How can I get the games and apps on BoostApps.com on my phone?
A. Here’s how to install them:
1) Click CATERGORIES in the menu to brows by category or use the search box at the bottom of every page on the site to find the a game or app you want.
2) Click the “JAD” link below the app’s description. The phone will download and install the app
Q. I have an Android phone. Will the apps on BoostApps work on it?
A. Yes with a Java ME emulator such as J2ME Loader
Q. I have a BlackBerry, can I use these games and apps?
A. The apps on this site are intended for non-smartphones. Some of them work on classic BlackBerrys running Blackberry OS 7.1 or earlier.
Q. I have a QWERTY phone and the number keys don’t work in games. Can this be fixed?
A. You need to switch the keypad to number mode. On most phones press Fn twice to switch to number pad mode. If that doesn’t work try a long press on the Fn key to switch the keyboard to phone number pad mode. Once you are in number mode you can use the the number keys in games that use numbers as controls. You have to do this on QWERTY phones for any game that uses the number keys. To switch back to QWERTY either tap FN once or do another long press.
Q. I have a QWERTY phone and I can’t type letters or symbols in the ID and password fields of some apps. What’s the solution?
A. Some apps don’t “see” the QWERTY keys and only recognize the number keys. Do a long press on the Fn key or press Fn twice to switch the keyboard to phone number pad mode and then you can triple tap the number keys to enter letters and symbols as if you were using a non-QWERTY phone. For example to type a “C”, press “2” three times.
Q. Can I watch YouTube or other web videos on my non-smart phone.
Some basic phones can play videos from m.youtube.com and other mobile video sites.
Q. Can I listen to Internet radio stations on my non-smart phone?
A. Virtual Radio works well on many phones.
Q. My phone doesn’t have a music player, can I install one?
A. I’ve tried a number of MP3 player apps and none have worked on phones that don’t have a built in music player and SD card.
Q. I signed up to subscribe to BoostApps by email but now I don’t want it anymore, how do I unsubscribe?
A. Click the “Unsubscribe now” or “Manage your subscriptions” link at the bottom of any of the emails.
Have a Motorola Theory. Cant recieve nor sent messages. It says “Memory Full”. Deleted old messages, pictures, reset timers, turned off phone for a while, removed battery and still the same problem. Need help. Thanks!
Go into Settings > Storage Device > Phone Memory and it should let you see whats using memory and let you delete it.
Its not lettin me delete anything. it just shows the amount of megabytes avaiable, used and total. Doesnt say anything about deleting. Only deleted my pictures and sounds.
On the Phone Memory screen, scroll down to My Pictures or My Sounds and click OK. You should be able to delete pictures and sounds from there. Apps and games also take up a lot of memory and can be deleted from Menu > My Stuff > Applications (or Games).
If you have deleted everything and you still get the memory full error and don’t mind losing your contacts and everything else you have saved or set up on the phone, a hard reset should fix the memory problem.
Go to: Menu > Settings > Phone > Security
1 When prompted, enter the four-digit lock code (the last four digits of your phone number or 1234, unless you have changed it) and press Done.
2 Scroll to Restore Phone and press OK.
3 Confirm that you want to reset the phone by scrolling to Yes and pressing OK.
4 When prompted, enter the four-digit lock code and press Done.
If the hard reset doesn’t help, the phone is probably defective.

I have the same problem. I can’t text and it just says “Memory Full”. I have deleted most things and it says I have 125Mb available and only 50Mb used. I don’t want to do a hard reset if I will lose all my contacts. How do I fix this?
i dont have a data plan on my sprint lg rumor reflex how can i load an app from my pc thru the sd card or usb cable?
It’s not possible to install an app using a cable or card. Boost has disabled those features.
does the same apply to sprint phones
Yes, Sprint non-smartphones can only install apps over the air.
There was a hack that let you install them from the memory card of the Virgin Mobile LG Rumor Touch running early firmware versions. It probably won’t work on your Rumor Reflex but you could try. How can you track a boost phone if its been lost or stolen? because i called boost and they dont help with these kind of things on their phone line
They will only track phones on request from law enforcement agencies.
Thank’s for the info! Alway’s helpful. Just wondering if you know if a memory card can be moved from one phone to another without losing any data? Incognito moves data quick but only 70mbs max in phone.
You can move a memory card between devices without using data. However content protected by DRM such as some purchased music, ringtones and wallpapers may only work on the phone they were originally downloaded too.
hey dennis, can u tell me if the incognito & innuendo r basically the same phone, that all apps & games that work on one will work on the other. appreciate ur help! I love boost apps!
The Innuendo is based on the Incognito but the same apps don’t necessarily work on both. I get the impression that more apps work on the Incognito but the Innuendo can reportedly run GPS apps where the Incognito can’t.
